Это рассказ одной девочки о пребывании Джерр в Йоханнесбурге (ЮАР) во время промоушена "Падения Олимпа".
http://katandherblog.wordpress.com/tag/gerard-butler/

У нас была уже ссылка на её блог, которую давала ОКейчик. И на Главной мы писали о событии, которое описывает эта девушка. Это радиоинтервью каналу Jacarqanda 94.2

http://gbutler.ru/news/jacaranda-942-studio/

http://katandherblog.wordpress.com/2013 ... th-africa/

:Rose: :Rose: :Rose:

Some exciting news – Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart will be visiting South Africa

My dear people of blogland….

Yesterday I got the most exciting news from a radio station here in South Africa, namely Jacaranda 94.2. The news is that Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart will be in South Africa promoting their new movie Olympus has Fallen. Now, these of you that know me VERY well, will know that I am a HUGE Gerard Butler fan. I have all his movies and liked him before he even hit ‘stardom’. I like him so much, I even had a t-shirt made…
I have all his movies… I have a calender with his photos… I am just a fan.
You might think I am silly, but Gerry helped me and my mom in a way. See years ago, in 2004 to be exact, my Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. You can read the blog entry here: Why I support Breast Cancer Awareness (This was when I still blogged under the name of Scarlet). It was just after her operations, that we saw that Phantom of the Opera was showing. My Mom and I went to watch it, and we fell in love with the movie. Both of us liked the Phantom better than Raoul, and agreed, that even if the Phantom was deformed he had a beautiful soul. I think in hindsight, that we felt that way because at that time we were both working through the shock of it all, especially my Mom. Anyways, we went to watch it six times, and when my Mom told her counsellor, her counsellor said that it was not a crazy thing to do, it was the way we were healing ourselves.
It was after that movie that I Googled Gerard Butler and realised that I had seen him in other movies. In each movie he played a completely different role and that is why I did not recognise him. It was there that I started collecting his movies and he became my favourite, favourite actor. I found the officially unofficial site: http://www.gerardbutler.net and joined the fan forum. All his fans there are known as ‘tarts’ and I became one of them. I met other SA friends there, who I am in regular contact with on Facebook.
The radio station is running a competition where you could be in studio with these two men… and I am planning on entering… the draw takes place on Monday, 8 April (which was/is my dad’s birthday) and you get to meet them on Tuesday.
Please hold thumbs for me… I soooo badly want to just get a glimpse of him!
So there you have it… That’s my Gerard Butler Story, I hope it gives you a glimpse of why I like him as an actor.
Have an awesome Thursday!

The good news – Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart in South Africa

Recently I blogged about Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart coming to South Africa to promote their new movie, Olympus has fallen.
This movie was released on Friday 12 April 2013 at all Nu Metro and Ster-Kinekor movie theatres in South Africa.
I entered the competition, that I referred to in my previous post, many times to meet them, but alas, I did not win. It was okay though, the prize ended up being for one person, and no offence, but who wants to meet those to gorgeous men alone???
Obviously there were other plans in store for me.
After the announcement of the two main winners on Monday afternoon, Martin Bester the DJ of the station said that seven people could win double tickets to the premier and attend the questions and answers session with the stars after the movie. To win the tickets all you needed to do was SMS the name of the movie and your name to them.
Now, this is where I thank the good Lord that I have a Blackberry, where you can copy, paste and send a message in a matter of seconds.
I wrote the message, copied it and pasted it over and over and over again. You can only imagine how many times I sent that message. I swear my nerves, my adrenaline and excitement all mixed into one was an awesome feeling. Who needs booze and recreational drugs when you can get a high from possibly seeing Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart.
I sent off 20 messages over a period of two minutes and all I could do was hope for the best.
At 18:30 I received a call from Mike, the producer of the show, who said that I was one of the lucky people to win. Now, this is the embarrassing part, but I screamed with a high pitched voice, just like a teeny bopper who gets to see Justin Bieber for the first time! (So much for my cool and intense Scorpio demeanour. *sigh*)
Anyways, while the producer was speaking to me I did a happy dance. He told me that he would call the next day with further details, but all that I had to do was be at the Il Grande movie theatre at Monte Casino at 18:30 to collect my tickets. I must admit, that it sounded a lot like the premier I went to there for Breaking Dawn Part 2. Thanks again for those tickets Harmony!
So, I was going to the premier and best of all… I could take a partner… and who better to take than my equally GB obsessed mom.
It was official. No matter what… We would both get to see Gerard Butler!
Yes, we would have gone to see the radio interview in the fishbowl studio that afternoon, and we took the day off to do that…
BUT now we were going to the premier as well!
How awesome could this get?

What to wear and other happenings – Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart in South Africa

We lounged about all morning. I answered e-mails from work. My Mom baked cupcakes for an order and then we decided to get ready. Well… first we debated what to wear and what the temperature would be like on the way home. Was I supposed to wear boots? Pumps? Jeans? A fancy blouse or my Gerard Butler t-shirt that I had made in 2005 in Varisty? (See it here) Do I wear my hair curly or straight? So many choices! So many decisions!
I ended up in my jeggings (the girls will know what that is), a fancy blouse and my gladiator heels. I decided to take my t-shirt with and change there. My mom had on a fancy blouse and black jeans with her sandals. We eventually left at 13:00.
It was early, but with the trafficwe would have only gotten there by 14:00 and the whole idea was to go walk around at Monte Casino, have lunch and then make our way to the fishbowl studio of Jacaranda 94.2.
One thing… Monte Casino is not very busy on weekdays. There are only gamblers and tourists and I must admit that it was odd having the whole corridor to ourselves to walk in.
So guess where we had lunch?
We ended up at Wimpy for a toasted sarmie. I think we were both a little nervous and because of that, we could not face a big meal. In the food court they have big screens up everywhere, and I was so excited when I saw the following:
After ‘lunch’ we went walking around. We looked at the shops and the shoes in the shops. Random thought, but who pays R 895 for a pair of plain black ballet pumps??? Okay, maybe if I won the jackpot while gambling and I know you pay for the name more than anything else, but seriously, the prices are sky high.
Talking about gambling. Do you know how many people are there during the day, and not just senior citizens? There are people of all ages, races and their eyes are all glued to those screens, spending money to make money. I can see how it can become addictive. My Mom and I did not gamble, but we ended up walking around the gamblers… and I must admit, that it is a bit scary seeing one person playing three machines.
We then went to a coffee shop for coffee and a slice of Lemon Meringue and it started getting a bit busier, but nothing to write home about. We lounged there till 16:00 (the show starts at 16:00) and went to my car, to go get my t-shirt… I changed and we got to the studios at about 16:15.
Then we had to wait….

The first glimpse – Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart in South Africa

The radio show started… and there were only five people in front of the studio. Two teenagers with their mom (who did not look like their mom I might add, she was way too young), my Mom and I.

Were we the only people waiting to see them? Surely not?

The two teenagers had made posters that said we love Gerard and Aaron. We started chatting with them. Soon other people started showing up and before long, everyone was waiting to catch a glimpse of Gerard and Aaron. I had foreigners asking me what the commotion was all about… maybe because of my “HAVE YOU BEEN BUTLERIZED?” t-shirt? Maybe I looked official? Or maybe I was just so excited?

I can’t tell you what time they got there. I remember looking at my watch and it was 17:15 and the DJ said that they were around the corner.

I heard the commotion “around the corner” and someone said they had arrived. We did not dare leave our spots against the window. Btw, my Mom was next to me all the time. Not bad for a 66-year-old lady. She kept up with us youngsters.

And then we saw them….

I started cheering with the people around me. Flashes were going off. However, with the double pane of sound proof glass, it was difficult to take photos. I realised that and put the flash off.

The DJ greeted both actors and told them where to sit and after the song the interview started. I think both the actors were so surprised to see us. Gerry had his phone out and was taking a video of all the fans through the glass. It seemed like he was having a ball of a time.

How surreal to have Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart just metres away from you. Okay, they were behind the glass panels, but still. At least we got to hear the interview, although in all the excitement, I’m not really sure what was asked. *BLUSH* I am sure that I could find the interview online.

Anyways, I took so many photos. Some were blurry but others were not, some were dark and others were not. But you know what? There is nothing that Photoshop cannot fix these days! Here are the photos from the radio interview.

Aaron’s dimple in his chin is gorgeous and I must admit he is a friendly man. Well, he came across as very friendly. At one stage I was staring at him (who wouldn’t ) and he moved his eyebrows up and down… you know like a flirty guy does to a girl. I turned around because I thought it couldn’t be me that he was doing it to. So I waved… and HE WAVED BACK! Eeeeek! So it was me. Maybe he just read my shirt and thought it was funny? In a news article that I read, he said he was shy… I am still wondering/debating that.

Gerry is tall and slim and somehow I thought he was bigger. But to be honest he is as big as my brother (Rugby Man). So maybe it is true that the camera adds weight? Anyway where I was standing, Gerry wouldn’t have seen me. The DJ was up and down in front of me; however, I did get to see him and as I said before… all I wanted was a glimpse.

My Mom left during the interview, she is a little claustrophobic and had to get out because of all the people around her. She went to one of the coffee shops and had coffee. She ended up making friends with other Gerard Butler fans. They were actually very nice people and I am so glad she had company. Although she says she saw so many people and heard so many things, that she enjoyed sitting there.
And then the interview was over… I found my Mom and I was telling her all the news when her new friend said that the men were on their way out of the studio…

The memory I will ALWAYS cherish! Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart in South Africa

They were on their way out? I thought that they would go through a back entrance or something. How wrong was I?
I left my mom at the coffee shop with my jacket and bag, actually she told me I could go and that she would wait for me. I don’t think she was up for a stampede. I grabbed my camera and went running down the corridor.
Aaron Eckhart was the first to appear. There were so many bodyguards and fans around that I decided to move to the end of the corridor and wait there. I took a couple of photos of him signing autographs and taking photos with fans.
9-april-2013_outside-the-studio-with-the-fans-12.jpg
Then Gerry came out and the girls went crazy. Those screams were ear-piercing high pitched screams. After this experience, I feel very sorry for any famous actor who has to hear that sound and be blinded by flashes from cameras. Privacy is what they obviously crave and I can understand that, and yes I know that is the path they have chosen to walk but still.

Gerard Butler with some of his fans and the bodyguard.

I spoke to so many different people who commented on my t-shirt and while I was waiting for the men to come my way, I notice a man standing to one side. It was Gerry Butler’s manager Alan. Yes, I know what his manager looks like there are photos of him and Alan on the GB website and yes, I know, I must have been one of the only people there who knew his manager, but knowing that does NOT and I repeat does NOT make me a stalker.
In all the excitement, I approached Alan.
“Are you Alan?” I asked.
“Yes, I am,” he replied. I think he might have been shocked that I knew him.
“That’s awesome. Thanks for looking after Gerry,” I said.
What else could I say? I was lost for conversation. I mean Gerry Butler was on his way towards us.
I admit, that I was eavesdropping on the conversation Alan was having with another gentleman who was carrying a bag or two. He was saying that they needed to hurry up, because they needed to have dinner, get to the room, change and then be downstairs for the red carpet walk.
While waiting for the guys to come my way, I set in my camera, to take a self-portrait of me and both stars. See, here is the photo. It would have been the coolest shot.
All of a sudden there was a commotion around me body guards telling me to get out the way… Aaron who was ahead of Gerry all the time, got to me the same time as Gerry made his way to his manager. I had to make a choice of who to corner to ask for a photo… and I am so sorry Aaron, but I have been a Gerry fan for so long that I chose him.

Gerry walked so fast that I ran up next to him begging him for a pic. They were in a hurry to get to the hotel so Gerry showed me to come closer. He put his arm around me and pulled me close to him and gave me a sideways hug. As I was about to take the photo, Alan said he would take the photo and took the camera out of my hand. Gerry and I posed for the photo. Alan took the photo, then ran backwards. I started laughing because it looked funny and Gerry told him not to screw around. In all the happenings around us, I said “Thanks for the photo Gerry”. He smiled at me and was whisked away.

Alan gave the camera back to me and said “It didn’t come out.”
I said: “Don’t worry about it.”
I knew how rushed they all were and I could not stop him again for a photo. What happened was that in all the pushing and shoving, the settings on the camera must have been disabled and that is why the photo did not come out and I didn’t have any evidence that I had met my favourite actor of all time. Walking back to my Mom I was so sad.
When I got to the restaurant I told my happy/sad tale to my Mom and the couple at the next table. It was there that the lady, I unfortunately didn’t get her name, said to me: “I also did not get a photo, but I got a hug and a high-five and that no one can take away from me. It is etched in my memory.”
It is true, I also did not get a photo, but those couple of seconds were worth so much more! That comment made me feel so much better and my Mom hugged me, we collected our things and made our way to the cinema, where more excitement awaited us.

The movie, the Q&A and the end to the evening – Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart in South Africa

Walking towards the cinema, my excitement started building again. So what about the photo? It was fine with me… that could always be my new dream. A girl has to always dream. *big smile*
The steel frames were up and we were walking the route that Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart would be walking later the night to meet the fans who weren’t lucky enough to get tickets for the premier. It was 18:35 and no fans had appeared yet. However, I was sure the place would be packed. The photos on Channel24 is proof enough that it was.
When we got to the front of the queue, I gave my name to the lady and my Mom and I received our tickets and black armbands. Later that night we found out that the gold armband people would be going to the VIP lounge to carry on the party, which I was totally fine with. A girl needs her beauty sleep and all that after a long day.
We then joined the queue again and we had an official photo taken of us before the movie. See below. Crystal Brook Distribution arranged it all.
The tickets said row B seats 15 and 16. I did not realise it was the second row from the front, in the middle. Okay, so the screen is massive and during the movie we got to see the pores on the men’s faces, but what counted was AFTER the movie. The stage was right in front of us and it meant that we would have a perfect view of Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart when they were answering questions.
We all got popcorn and drink of choice and we ended up sitting next to two very funny ladies. They loved my shirt and were totally convinced that we (my Mom and I) were the greatest fans there. The one lady did say that if I knew who Gerry’s manager was that I was the ultimate fan, because how many people know that? The ladies were very welcoming and we chatted a lot about the actors.
We were all welcomed by Martin Bester, who interviewed Gerard and Aaron earlier on his radio show and after that the movie then started. Wow! What an action packed movie, of course I will not give too much away, but it might just be one of my new favourites. The jets and the effects were awesome. The men were yummy and well, and yes, I might be biased, but I enjoyed it. My mom did as well and we are still talking about it. We will definitely be going to see it again after payday.
After the movie, Martin Bester was trying to get the audience worked up because we were waiting for the actors to get there. The media took up their places and then Martin Bester saw my shirt and made me stand up in front of the whole cinema (a few pics were taken, but I don’t know by who). It was a pity that Gerard and Aaron weren’t there for that.
And then the men walked in. The cinema erupted in screams and applause and I was one of the people who clapped my hands and shouted. It was truly an epic moment to have them so close and yet so far.

Getting ready to leave the stage.

It was then that the audience got to ask questions and an acquaintance of mine, Aldridge was lucky enough to get to ask Gerard a question. It was truly awesome seeing how the men interacted with the audience. One lady from the audience was lucky enough to get a hug from Aaron and then Gerard gave her one too. While the one was talking the other was scouting the audience and vice versa. It was really one of the best experiences in my WHOLE life.
Gerry announced that it had been Aaron’s last tour promoting Olympus has Fallen. He also said that he was on his way to Mexico to promote the movie there. After the Q&A Gerry and Aaron left the cinema and everyone started leaving. The night had come to an end and we still had a trip to make back to Pretoria. I can tell you that I was on cloud 9 and I have been back there every time I think about it.
Oh and remember I mentioned my mom’s friends that she made at the coffee shop? Well on our way out, the lady saw my Mom and hugged her. She said that my Mom was one in a million. ‘To be with your daughter every step of the way and support her way you do is priceless,’ she said. My Mom felt so special, and yes, I know, my Mom is one in a million, and this is where I just want to say, thanks for going with me and being by my side Mom. I’ll never forget this. *Big smile*
And that was the end to a most awesome day. My Mom and I drove home that night and walked in the front door at 23:15. We were both tired. We were on a high. Laying in the dark I went over the day in my mind. The experience was so surreal. However, with all the excitement I could not fall asleep. I could/can honestly say that my dream came true, and how many people get to say that?
When I did eventually drift off to sleep at about 02:00… I know it was with a smile on my face.
