Hollywood superstar Gerard Butler has thrown his backing behind Paisley’s City of Culture bid.
The proud Buddie took to Twitter to back the town’s ambitious campaign after being featured in a unique Lego film.
Youngster Morgan Spence, 17, immortalized homegrown success stories in the famous blocks for his stop-motion clip plugging the town’s 2021 bid.
And the movie A-lister was so impressed with the three-minute recording, he tweeted a link to his 440,000 followers.
“Honoured to make the cut, especially in Lego form. @Paisley2021, you have my support!” he added.
Gerard, 47, gave up a budding legal career for Tinsel Town and he’s never looked back after rising to fame in Spartan epic ‘300’ and romantic drama P.S. I Love You.
But it is his latest screen appearance that has got people talking.
The short film premiered at the town’s St Charles’ Primary and features Lego models of Paisley Abbey, the town hall and Causeyside Street — complete with rows of shops.
Gerard stars in the clip with late music hero Gerry Rafferty, Paolo Nutini, artist and playwright John Byrne, weatherman Sean Batty.
And there is even a homage to 70s pop queen, Kelly-Marie.
Political broadcaster Andrew Neil was one of the big names featured in Lego form and showed the film on his Daily Politics BBC show yesterday.
Morgan has created dozens of Lego clips from his bedroom studio in Kilbarchan. His latest movie took four months to make.
His work has been hailed by American telly talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and he was hired to create a unique marriage proposal screened at a Birmingham cinema.
The Johnstone High pupil is set to host animation workshops in schools across the region. He’s also studying towards gaining a place on a multimedia journalism course.
Renfrewshire Council leader and Paisley 2021 partnership board chair Mark Macmillan is thrilled with Gerard’s Tweet.
He added: “We are delighted Gerard Butler has added his name to the list of famous Buddies who have publicly backed the bid.
“To have his endorsement just shows the extent to which the world is taking notice of Paisley and what is has to offer.”

В СМИ появилась неподтвержденная официально информация о переговорах

Одна из самых известных независимых кинокомпаний Millennium Films / Nu Image может стать китайской. В американских и китайских СМИ появилась информация о том, что корпорация Recon Group из Поднебесной ведет переговоры о приобретении студии и одноименной дистрибуционной компании, которая сейчас принадлежит продюсеру Ави Лернеру. Источники агентства Bloomberg утверждают, что китайцы готовы провести сделку через свое медиаподразделение Recon Wenyuan Cable, акции которого размещаются на бирже в Шэньчжэне.

Recon – компания возглавляемая китайским бизнесменом Тони Ся. Корпорация развивается в направлении финансовых сервисов, IT, медицины и сельского хозяства. В 2016 году компания приобрела британский футбольный клуб Aston Villa за $101 млн. При этом, было заявлено, что Recon планирует продолжить покупать спортивные команды в других странах, включая Индию, Испанию и США.

Кинокомпания Ави Лернера, которая хорошо известна своими боевиками и, прежде всего, франшизой НЕУДЕРЖИМЫЕ, уже не раз работала с инвесторами из Поднебесной. Но ранее они сотрудничали лишь по конкретным проектам. Так, в НЕУДЕРЖИМЫХ вкладывалась Le Vision Pictures – часть китайского холдинга LeEco, а недавно было объявлено, что в проектах 2017 года ОХОТНИК–УБИЙЦА с Джерардом Батлером и ЭСКОБАР с Хавьером Бардемом будет участвовавать китайская компания Hishow.

Приобретение Millennium Films / Nu Image может обойтись китайцам из Recon в сумму не менее $300 млн.
